The Great Blue Heron

This is a Great Blue Haron

Although Great Blue Harons can wade quite far from shore (as shown here), they seem to prefer hunting closer to shore.

This is a Great Blue Haron sunning in the morning along with the Cormorants and other water fowl.

This is a Great Blue Haron in the reeds where the fish are near the surface of the water.

The Great Blue Haron will also eat frogs, which are usually closer to shore.

A Great Blue Haron on shore looks very Stork-like.

A Great Blue Haron takes flight. Rather awkward looking at this point, but once it reaches crusing altitude they look quite gracefull.

Great Blue Harons like this type of tree for nesting, however I have never seen any nests in Berkley Park trees.
